Canada & America The list below is some of the carvers that I've come across in my travels around the world. North Ontario the following Carvers are by all rights outstanding and very professional qualified Artist, some with several first place ribbons from several competitions over the years, but I will let you decide. Gerry Grantham Woodcarving 33488 Hwy 17 w Deep River Ontario Canada G
Grantham
Gerry is a self taught Woodcarver using only hand tools he carvers some of the most outstanding walking canes on the market. If your in the area of Deep River or frequent E-Bay you will find Gerry carvings on the market. Town of MATTAWA This carving was completed by an unknown carver I found approx 14 life size carvings in the Town of Mattawa in northern Ontario, I asked the town for info but where unable to remember his name. All the carvings are very well done and if your ever in the area you have to drop in and have a look for your self.
Sierra Leone West Africa
Master carver "Tomba" located in Freetown Sierra Leone on the west shore of Africa. Tomba and his carvers can create unbelievable carvings from solid Iron Wood trees with guardian tools. I spent hours looking at all his carvings and watching his carvers. Just click on the link below for the full story in PDF. file format. Alaska Carvers
Steve Lankerd Sr lives in Matlakatla Alaska Steve is a scrimshaw carver. You can
see some of his work below. Steve first contacted me via email and asked if he
could use the pattern on my page. As you can see below he has outstanding skill
at scrimshaw. You can contact Steve by clicking on the link
below. I finished this one last month. I just love how stippling enables minute detail to be captured. I also carve wildlife scenes on gun stocks which I love doing just as much as scrimshaw. Nice work Steve

Karl [kamberge@kooee.com.au] Some of the of the listings below are most of the mills that I now use or have used. First lets look at Timber for chainsaw carvings. I now use "Hallman Lumber" located just south of Walters Falls, which is located south east of Owen Sound. So for you Toronto carvers its about 2 hours distance up airport road. Is it worth the trip? yes it most definitely is. I just picked up two Basswood logs 18 inch width with a length of 5 1/2 ft for $79.00 CDN. I am also told they have Butternut logs from time to time which is excellent for carving.
